Roads To Success

Trains and boats and planes all have a part to play in Pennine Lancashire. But it’s our motorway network links which provide an immediate route to market.

Roads To Success

The first British motorway, the M6 and its near neighbour the M61 links with our very own M65. Factor in the easy accessibility of the M55, M58, M62 and M66 and the A59 artery across to Harrogate, York and beyond and you’ll agree we’re on the road to everywhere!

The region is putting its money where its mouth is and streamlining services.

The new Nelson Bus/Rail interchange opened in December 2008. The showpiece Burnley Bus Station, the re-development of the Blackburn rail/bus interchange and Clitheroe Railway Station’s integrated connections with local bus services ensure it is a pleasure to visit and work in our area.

The Witch Way, launched in 2005, provides luxurious Business Class standards on a fleet of distinctive two-decker buses which travel between Manchester and Rawtenstall, Burnley and Nelson.

Meanwhile the imaginative, environmentally friendly and pioneering PENNINEREACH project aims to encourage bus rather than car use. The provision of this modern customer-first service with bus-only lanes across key parts of Pennine Lancashire, will link Darwen, Blackburn, Great Harwood and Accrington.

Regional Airports
