A big thank you and a taste of our Lancashire cheese and amber nectar

A mouth-watering hamper packed with local wines, cheeses and award-winning ales is winging its way by special delivery from Pennine Lancashire to HRH The Prince of Wales.

The Prince has shown his passion for the area’s local produce with his endorsement of the fourth annual Pennine Lancashire Festival of Food and Culture, and now festival organisers representing Elevate and the boroughs of Blackburn with Darwen, Burnley, Hyndburn, Pendle, Rossendale the Ribble Valley and Lancashire County Council are thanking him for his support with a taste of Lancashire’s amber nectar and delicious cheeses.

In his foreword for the festival programme, The Prince of Wales praised organisers for their hard work to put together the month long event, which opened visitors’ eyes to the area’s fascinating history, its abundance of culture and creativity, its great natural beauty and its superb food and drink.

The hamper is packed with the finest locally sourced cheeses and brews including a glorious selection of excellent ales from Moorhouses, The Bowland Brewery, Daniel Thwaites, Hopstar and 3 B’s, and wines produced by Wilsons’ Winery.

Max Steinberg, Chief Executive of regeneration agency Elevate, which co-ordinated the festival on behalf the six districts of Pennine Lancashire, said: “The hamper is a way of expressing our sincere appreciation for the support the Prince has given us.

“It is great that he shares our enthusiasm for making the most of the fantastic food and culture we have around us here in Pennine Lancashire.”

The hamper will leave Pennine Lancashire on its way to the Prince, from Pendle Heritage Centre. Councillor John David, Leader of Pendle Council, said: “I was delighted that the centre was able to play a significant part in this year’s successful festival programme, hosting three interesting and exciting events including a treasure hunt, a Made in Lancashire Producers’ Market and the Pendle Witches Experience.”

The festival hosted over 60 events and experiences across Pennine Lancashire ranging from gourmet short breaks, culinary canal cruises and pony trekking picnics to steam train lunches, ghost walks, ale trails and brewery tours. Over 30,000 people travelled across the area to participate.
